As we trust we have been brought by divine grace to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the influence of his spirit to give ourselves up to him, so we do most solemnly covenant with each other, that God enabling us. We will walk together in brotherly love:
- That we will exercise a Christian care and watchfulness over each other, and faithfully warn, rebuke and admonish one another as the case shall require: and in all things we will seek and guard the honor and the true function of the church;
- That we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor omit the great duty of prayer, both for ourselves and for others: and for the enterprises of the Kingdom of God;
- That we will share in each other's joys, and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy, to bear each other's burdens and sorrows;
- That we will earnestly endeavor to bring up such as are, or may be, under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord;
- That we will seek divine aid to enable to walk circumspectly and watchfully, in the world, denying ungodliness and every worldly lust;
- That we will endeavor by example and effort to win souls to Christ, and through life, amidst evil report and good report seek to live to the glory of him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light.
History, Vision, and Purpose
HISTORY: United Fellowship Ministries was conceived by the Holy Spirit in April 1981. More than 30 years later, the Fellowship has continued to both grow and expand. As God adds to the ministry we are becoming a greater branch of Zion. For this we honor God and to him be all the Glory forever and ever.
Being led by the Holy Spirit and returning from Japan Apostle and Prophetess Boyd joined fellowship with a local church in Dover. They knew they were just stopping by; on October 18, 1981, they left that body and began to do the work God had called them to do. They held their first service at 4569 New Jersey Drive. Dover, DE., with six persons in attendance. They were also teaching a bible study at the Base Chapel, Dover AFB. While having service in their home, the church grew at such a rate that by June 1982, they were more than 40 persons strong and growing. They began to look for a larger facility to have services. The Lord gave Prophetess Boyd a vision of what the building was to look like, and they began to look. This brought them to 3 Palmer Park Starhill DE., where they found the building the Lord had shown them.
They held their first service on the 4th of July 1982, and there they remained for the next years. They grew to a membership of more than 200 persons. Apostle then turned the church over to the Assistant Pastor while he evangelized. The Pastor later moved the church to Milford, DE. and called it Kingdom Life, which is still yet going forth today. The Lord later lead Apostle Boyd to restart the church in the same area and keep the name of United Fellowship. So again, they found themselves at 1 Palmer Park Starhill, DE. They soon outgrew this location and moved to the Lodge in Dover. Within a three-month period, they had once again become too large for the area. They moved to Capitol Shopping Center at 1032 south DuPont Highway. At this location, they used the upper floor of the Center to hold services. However, due to the limited access during the day, the Church transitioned to a old burned out garage in the rear of the Center and within six weeks we were having services. By 1990, the Church was too large to remain in that building and unable to carry out the church mission. The saints began to pray and seek a new place of worship. They were lead to 143 South Governors Avenue. This facility had 18,000 square feet, two floors and was located in the heart of the city and community United wanted to reach. In this place they found favor in the eyes of God and the City. Here, they did an even greater work for God and our Christ. After more than 15 years at 143 Governors, the city took the church building by emit-domain. The heart of United Fellowship remains strong. Their love, passion, and zeal for Christ can be experienced every Sunday at 1243 College Park Road, Dover, DE at 11:30am. We hope to see you there!
VISION: The vision for the church is to train up the people of God for KINGDOM WORK. This is the vision that the Lord God thru Jesus Christ gave me for the church (in house), and to enhance ministries (out house). The Word of God says, "Except the Lord build a house, the labor of those that laboreth, laboreth in vain."
The vision for the church differs from the ministries. The church is the Branch of Zion that is designed to keep that which the Lord would bring in. It is the base or foundation of the ministries, that supports the rest of the work of God. You must have a place that will allow you to grow and will keep the vision of the church.
When we received the vision for United Fellowship Ministries Inc., it was simply to do the work of God. We are called to be HOLY and RIGHTEOUS. He gave us a desire not to "be somebody," but to be the example of Christ; a place where when there is nowhere else to go, there is a place to go in God.
The purpose is not to be a place to build a following or an empire, but to be open and loving, reaching out for others. A place where you will not have to wonder because you will be able to see the love of God manifested in their lives.
United Fellowship Ministries Inc. is not just any church; it was conceived out of love for the purpose of love. It is based on fellowship and caring. The vision for the church is to train up the people of God for KINGDOM WORK.
